Baked custard prepared in a 2-quart casserole dish.
One of my most favorite deserts, custard is really quite easy to make.
Ingredients:
1 quart half & half
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey, maple syrup, or malt syrup
8 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
optional - nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.
Process:
Combine sugar, eggs, honey and salt; whisk in half & half and vanilla extract. Pour into buttered molds or cups. Sprinkle top with nutmeg or cinnamon, if desired.
Place in a deep pan, fill pan half way up the side of the mold with hot water.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes (longer if using a large mold).
When a knife inserted near the middle of the custard comes out clean, the custard is done.
