Lobsters are American royalty. How do we know they're American? Why, their very name, Homarus americanus, tells us our pal Homer is as Americanus as apple pie - and these particular lobsters are only found along the North Atlantic coast.
What about the 'royalty' part, you ask? Simple. Lobster blood is blue, not red like ours. This is because they have copper-containing hemocyanin instead of iron-containing hemoglobin in their blood to carry oxygen to the cells. And, as you know, 'Blue Blood' is another term for 'Royalty'!
So, next time you see a lobster, be sure to bow down and address them as Your Magesty! Now please pass the drawn butter.
