Tomatoes, one of our more famous vegetables, are technically fruits - berries, in fact! The word "vegetable" is a culinary term (how we use the item), whereas "berry" and "fruit" are botanical terms (what function the item serves for the plant). Other familiar berries include cucumbers, squash, eggplant, and grapes.
Here's a surprise twist for ya ... strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and raspberries are not actually berries, although they are fruits.
